Yarrabilba and Kairabah are located within the Logan City Council area, approximately 20km south of Logan Central and 46km south of the Brisbane CBD. Yarrabilba and Kairabah are both approved names for localities under the Place Names Act 1994 (the Act).
Localities – often known as suburbs – are administrative boundaries that are essential for the creation of valid addresses that can be uniquely and clearly identified. Valid addresses are critical to ensure the timely and accurate provision of postal, emergency, and other essential services.
The proposal was suggested by Lendlease Developers Pty Ltd, which is currently leading the development of the Yarrabilba Priority Development Area. The Yarrabilba Priority Development Area encompasses the localities of both Yarrabilba and Kairabah. The primary purpose of the proposed place name change is to avoid confusion for residents, businesses, and emergency services by proposing a single suburb name across the whole Yarrabilba development footprint.

Community consultation is open for two months starting from 20 December 2024 and will close on 21 February 2025.
